The University of Virginia is currently recruiting 2014-2015 fellows for our ACGME accredited EMS fellowship. Our fellowship program curriculum encompasses all components of the EMS core content including structured experiences in prehospital patient care, medical oversight, quality management, EMS personnel management, research, and disaster and special operations. The fellow gains experience in all structures of EMS services including hospital based, urban fire based, volunteer, rural career, third party, critical care ground, neonatal transport and rotor wing air ambulance. The fellow is also involved in initial and continuing education for all levels of EMS personnel. Training experiences in EVOC, hazmat, confined space, tactical, high angle, and water rescue is included. Exposure to rural and urban PSAP’s including quality improvement initiatives is also part of the fellowship Our fellows also gain experience in planning and response to mass events and MCI/disaster management though active community involvement and special event staffing.
Fellow salary is at the PGY-4 level with moonlighting opportunities available.
