Subject: UT Southwestern EMS Fellowship
Greetings!
Our EMS fellowship is still recruiting candidates. Could you please forward the information below to your senior residents? Thank you! Lynn
The UT Southwestern EMS fellowship has the following opportunities, besides the traditional EMS track:
1. Tactical medicine - fellows work with the Dallas Police Department medical director and deploy with the Dallas SWAT team
2. GEMSS - Government Emergency Medicine Security Services, which focuses
on the provision of care for governmental agencies (like the US Secret Service and the FBI) and high profile figures.
3. Event medicine - fellows are intricately involved in the delivery of
care at the American Airlines Center, home of the Mavericks and the Stars.
They also participate in events at Texas Motor Speedway and provide
ringside care alongside the medical director for the Dallas boxing
association.
4. Disaster medicine - Dallas has a DMAT and a USAR team, and fellows
participate in trainings and also in deployments.
Additional information can be found on the following website: http://dallasem.org/content/fellowships. The fellowship brochure is also attached. Interested residents should contact the EMS fellowship administrative assistant at silvia.ramirez@utsouthwestern.edu. Any other questions may be directed to Dr. Marshal Isaacs, Chief of EMS Fellowship Operations, at dallasfiremd@earthlink.net.
